A friendly reminder that our member meeting will take place this Saturday September 13th at 4:00 PM. The club will provide non-alcoholic beverages and snacks for the meeting. Look forward to seeing you all on Saturday.

An invitation to membership to come watch the last match of an exciting tournament weekend! Blaine and Hadley Laskowski will be challenging Peggy Clement and Cathy G. for the Women’s Doubles title.

Due to wet court conditions the start to today’s tournament is pushed back by two hours.

The weather forecast for Saturday is looking cloudy and comfortable.

Five women’s teams and five men’s teams teams will be competing on Saturday August 30, with women in the morning and men in the afternoon, followed by finals and a potluck social.

Competitors will receive an email this evening with more detail as we are still working out the detailed timing. The schedule here is approximate. Ladies, plan to arrive no later than 8:30 for warm-up, earlier if you prefer more than 15 minutes. Men, arrive no later than noon for warm-up.

Competing teams include: Linda Levin & Judy Bowen, Cathy Giannattasio & Peggy Clement, Blaine & Hadley Laskowski (mother/daughter), Rosa Mastrocola & Marilyn Zelin, Darlene McCormick & Milli Chapell, Peter & Nick Laskowski (father/son), Geordie Hall & Dexter Lefavour, Woody Dugan & Charlie Delaney, Bob & Sandy Vietze (father/son), and Andy Nagy & Ethan Hoblitzelle.

Social mixer and potluck to follow.

We welcome and encourage our tennis community and guests to come watch matches and finals, cheer on the teams, and socialize with us afterwards. Please bring your favorite dish to share during and/or after the matches. Soda/seltzer and beer will be provided by the Club. Thanks in advance everyone!

As many of you know, Deri Meier passed away in June. Deri was very active in the running of the club. Members have donated a plaque in his memory to be mounted next to his wife’s, Suzanne’s plaque.

The dedication ceremony is planned for Saturday, October 11 at 2:00 at the club, rain or shine. There will be a small gathering afterwards. All are invited.

The Meier family will be joining us.

Four 5.0 Women from Montpelier will perform a doubles exhibition for MRTC. This promises to be an exciting match with top-notch players.

Based on feedback the members meeting is rescheduled for Saturday September 13th at 4:00 PM. Please add it to your calendar. I’ll send reminders as we approach the date in September. Look forward to seeing you all then.

There has been a request by a couple of members to hold a member meeting hosted by the current board of the club. I would like to do this sooner than later and have penciled in a date of Saturday August 16th at 4:00 PM. Please respond to this email if you plan on attending. I would like to have a handle on numbers before confirming the meeting is a go.

Join us for a celebration of our great sport with an exhibition from the top four 5.0 women tennis players from Vermont. They will challenge each other in an exciting doubles match.

All MRTC members and guests are invited.
